Summer Craft Fair 2014

To celebrate our first year of trading here at Cartwheels Craft Centre we held a summer craft fair.  The weather was hot and sunny all day and many people came to browse and purchase quality art and craft products from our very talented stall holders.  Visitors also endulged in tea and cake on the lawn soaking up the sun and the atmosphere while listening to music being played by some members of the Liskeard based concert wind band the ‘Westernairs’.  Here are some pictures from the day:-

Shallow Willow Baskets with Bridget King

We began by making a basket base using the similar principal to the sun flower we made on the Introduction to Willow workshop last year.

Needle Felting 2 with Julia Terry

Due to being over subscribed on our first needle felting workshop, we ran another one.

We began with flowers, the owls or penguins, then most of us chose wall hangings.

Bluebell Woods in Watercolour with Yvette Wiltshire

Today we have had a fantastic workshop painting bluebell woods in watercolour.  We started the day by taking a short trip down the lane to Cutkieve Woods to experience the bluebells first hand.  The sun was shining and the bluebells were definitely at their best.

We then returned to the Craft Centre for a well earned cup of tea and a chat about the pictures we had taken, paying attention to the light shining through the trees and the shadows.  The learners where then given the same picture to paint under the careful guidance of tutor Yvette Wiltshire.

The day progressed very well with some excellent pictures produced, I think the trip at the start of the day was really inspirational to everyone.  Well done!

Willow Plant Supports with Bridget King

We recently had a full house of ladies making Willow Plant Supports.  A variety of shapes and sizes were made, with everyone taking home at least two.

One of the ladies travelled down from Yeovil for the workshop as she had been given the day as a birthday present from her family. She successfully managed to transport two plant supports back up to Somerset.

I have since added an everlasting sweet pea plant to my creation.  I cant wait for it to grow a bit more and start flowering.    DSCF3980 (Small)

Shaggy Rag Rugging with Sara Rose

We recently hosted our second Shaggy Rag Rug workshop with Sara Rose.  It was attended by complete beginners and some people returned to complete their projects that they started on the first workshop back in October 2013.

Lots of different colours, fabric and designs were used.

Below is my second completed Shaggy Rag project!

One of today’s learners travelled from Bedford to attend the workshop and he enjoyed it so much he has signed up for the ‘Bluebells in Watercolour’ workshop in May.  Fantastic!
