Longarm Quilting

I am delighted to offer this service here onsite at Cartwheels. Using my APQS Lucey longarm quilting system, your precious patchwork quilt top, wadding and backing can be sewn together into a gorgeous finished quilt. No more basting, spraying, tacking or pinning, Lucey’s roller system does it all for you!

Please call me to make an appointment prior to bringing your quilt top in so that I can ensure we have plenty of time to discuss your requirements including patterns, threads, wadding, backing, binding, costings and time scale.

Patterns

There is a selection of pantograph patterns for you to choose from. A pantograph is a continuous design (printed on a very long piece of paper) which will be followed to produce the stitched pattern completely across the width of the quilt. This is a manual process, no computerisation involved!

Threads

There is a wide range of coloured threads to choose from. Variegated threads are also available. There is a wide range of coloured threads to choose from. Variegated threads are also available.

Wadding

You can provide your own wadding ensuring that it is 8” longer and 8” wider than your quilt top. I hold a stock of both 90” wide and 110” wide wadding from ‘The Warm Company’ if you wish to purchase that here.

Backing

You can provide your own backing fabric ensuring that it is 8” longer and 8” wider than your quilt top. I have a wide range of standard width (44”) 100% cotton fabrics in stock to choose from. I also carry a few designs of extra wide (108”) cotton fabrics for backing larger quilts.

Binding

A two part binding service is also available. Partial binding consists of the binding being stitched around the edge of the quilt and left for you to slip stitch around onto the backing. Alternatively a full binding service can be arranged so that your quilt will be complete when you collect it!
