Description:  This course is for the complete dress making beginner.  It will be structured week by week but is flexible depending on the individual as everyone works at a different pace.  If you have a pattern of the garment that you wish to make please bring it to the first session although the tutor has plenty of patterns that you can choose from!

Week 1: Measure figure, learn to read patterns,  establish how much fabric to buy, guidance on fabric suitable for garment planned, machine maintenance, simple sewing techniques covered that will be used during course and use of an overlocker.

Week 2:  Checking fabric, laying pattern on fabric, cutting correctly,  marking darts, starting making up if time / some might need to make a toile (trousers).

Week 3- 5: Making garment, fitting garment,  individual help as required.
If a simple style is chosen you should finish garment in 4-5 weeks but this will depend on individual skill levels .

Sewing machines and overlockers can be provided for use if you do not have your own.  Please book this at the time of booking onto the course.

The course will commence on 24th September and will run fortnightly 7pm – 9.30pm at a cost of £12 per session.
